On March 26-28, 2024 an international external review of four clusters of educational programmes (Marketing, Social Work, Sinology, Information Systems and Technologies) delivered by Kyrgyz National University named after J.Balasagyn was held.

The review was carried out jointly by two accreditation agencies: National Centre for Public Accreditation (Russia) and Independent Accreditation Agency “Bilim-Standard” (Kyrgyzstan).

It is not the first time when Russia and Kyrgyzstan carry out joint external reviews. The accreditation procedure included major efforts on agreeing the standards and criteria. Representatives of both agencies coordinated the external review panel’s work.

The panels included Kyrgyz and Russian academic experts, representatives of professional and student communities.

The first day of the panel’s work involved the tour of the university. Later the meetings with the university administration, teachers and graduates of the Institute of Computer Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, Institute of Management and Business and Kyrgyz-Chinese Institute were held. The experts also had a look at the computer park and corporate network of the university.

On the second day members of the review panels met with the heads of departments, students and representatives of the professional community (employers). Subject-specific tours were also organized for the experts. For example, the review panel of the cluster “Marketing” visited the Ministry of Economics and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.

On the third day during the final meeting the review chairs shared their impressions and presented the preliminary results of the review to the university administration, representatives of structural subdivisions and people responsible for accreditation.

The joint review contributes to the development of study programmes and the educational institution on the whole. The programmes get a chance to review their quality on a high international level and receive recommendations from highly-qualified foreign experts. On the top of that, the results of such review are confirmed by the certificates on international accreditation of two countries.

On March 27, 2024 Galina Motova, President of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN), NCPA Director, and Erik Esentaev, Director of the Independent accreditation agency “Bilim-Standard”, held a seminar on international accreditation for the representatives of Kyrgyz HEIs at the premises of the Centre of Digital and Innovation Technologies of Kyrgyz National University named after J.Balasagyn.
